Finally! A little wrap up of Haven!

I wanted this post up Sunday... but I was practically in a coma until last night.  That conference wore me more than I realized haha!  Let's get to it:
Haven Conference 2012.  Where do I begin!!???  It was such an amazing time!  To truly wrap my head around what I learned, soaked in, understood and gathered from the there days in Atlanta is really a true testament to how well constructed this conference was.  The panel did an amazing job as this was the first annual Haven Conference, and was a true success.  There’s Haven Maven wrap up posts all over the place.  For now I just want to ramble on about how AMAZING I thought this conference was rather than try to be all informative on “the best way to attend a conference”.

This was my first conference I ever attended, so I wasn’t completely sure what to expect.  I was hoping to meet some new blogger friends, hoping to meet some contacts with some companies and come home with my notebook filled with pages full of new knowledge.  I did all that – plus so much more!

This conference couldn’t have happened without these truly amazing, talented and beautiful ladies.
Chris of Just a Girl, Kate of Centsational Girl, Sarah of Thrifty D├ęcor Chick, Kristi of Creative Kristi, Marian of Miss Mustard Seed, Beth of Home Stories A to Z, Traci of Beneath My Heart, Kristtin of Stockdale Design and of course  Rhoda of Southern Hospitality
I had a rough start to the beginning of the trip.  I fly standby, and though I get a great price for my airline ticket… the amount of patience and energy it takes to watch flight after flight take off while you’re still sitting in the gate is starting to become not worth it.  My first flight was at 9am, and I ended up not getting out until 5 that night (Wednesday).  I arrived just in time to catch the end of the Meet and Greet sponsored by Frog Tape & Oreck, and they did such an awesome job!  I was overwhelmed coming into the party late, but all these bloggers I was so nervous to meet embraced with open arms.  Such a relief.  Thursday and Friday were the two full days of the conference that were JAM packed with a variety of classes.  Everything from some basic intro classes to power tools, to advanced painting and PR & advertising on your blog.  I was thrilled that I was able to take each class that I truly wanted to take and got so much out of each one.  They did an EXCELLENT job of picking true experts in their field to really help teach us how to be the best bloggers we can be.

John & Sherry of Young House Love – the keynote speakers.  They were the perfect openers for the conference.  They are so down to earth, the true bloggers that started this entire generation I feel, and really know “how to do it”.  I love their passion of blogging, of DIYing and for each other.  They’re absolutely fantastic (and only live a few hours away from me! Why we don’t have slumber parties I don’t know!?)

The entire day was perfectly scheduled from having the time slots for classes, but enough time in between each session to mingle and socialize with other bloggers, and also set time to go to each vendor booth and meet with the reps.  I was SO excited to meet all the variety of companies that were a part of the conference! We can SUCH an awesome selection of sponsors, and I cannot say enough about each company there!  Everyone was so nice, the reps were SO receptive to me, so excited for new opportunities, and they were so informative about their companies and their products.  Everyone was truly an open book and I really took advantage to soak in as much knowledge as possible.

I can’t even pick something to say, “but this was my MOST favorite part of the conference” because each aspect had so many benefits.  But I will say, that what has made the biggest impact I believe and will change blogging the most for me, is the chance to meet SO.MANY.AMAZING.BLOGGERS.  Honestly, everyone was so nice, so eager to meet one another, so supportive and energetic about all of us growing together.  To ready someone’s blog for years, then come face to face with them and know that they’re someone you connect with in person too it truly changes your relationship about blogging.
